Wind Ensemble

The High School Wind Ensemble features the finest musicians at Ashley Ridge High School.  The Wind Ensemble meets all year and is comprised of students of all grade levels.  The Wind Ensemble focuses on refining instrumental playing skills and performing quality music literature of a higher difficulty level.  Members of the Wind Ensemble will perform concerts during the school year and participate in SCBDA band contests.

Symphonic band

The High School Symphonic Band is the second band at Ashley Ridge High School.  The Symphonic Band meets all year. Symphonic Band focuses on refining instrumental playing skills and performing quality music literature of a higher difficulty level.  Members of the Symphonic Band will perform concerts during the school year.

Wind Band Events

Solo & Ensemble Contest

Solo and Ensemble is an adjudicated event sanctioned by the South Carolina Band Directors Association in which students may play individually or in small groups. Soloists typically play with or without an accompanist. This is an event for students to receive a rating and feedback and represent the Ashley Ridge Bands on an individual level.

Region & All-State Band

The Region and All-State Band membership is selected in January by an audition of students from across the state.  Each year the Ashley Ridge Band program is consistently represented in Region and All-State clinics where they rehearse and perform in these annual honor ensembles.

Concert Performance Assessment

In the spring of each school year, the South Carolina Band Director’s Association sanctions an event in which concert bands play for judges’ comments and ratings. The Ashley Ridge Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band attend annually.
