Summer Opportunities

As summer approaches we wanted to give you all an idea of some of the summer camp opportunities that are in our area. All of these are incredible experiences, run by some of the best musicians in the country.

Charleston Southern Music Camp: June 24 - 29
Students 6th-12th grade are eligible to participate in one of the bands for a week during the summer. Many of our students participate and have had a great time! See link for all information.

Summer Music Camp - Charleston Southern University

Charleston Southern University's Horton School of Music is proud to sponsor Summer Music Camp for students in grades four through 12. Campers may participate in Senior Band, Junior Bands, Senior Chorus, Junior Chorus or Piano Camp during the weeklong session.

Charleston Low Brass Seminar: Tuesday, June 20
This is for low brass students rising 8th - 12th grade. Dr. Clarkson, the tuba/euphonium professor at CSU leads this awesome 1-day clinic!!

Charleston Towne Trumpet Fest: June 20 - 21
This is the innagural year of the Charleston Towne Trumpet Fest, led by an outstanding trumpet teacher/Charleston Symphony performer in our area, Susan Messersmith. See description and email to register!
Two day event ($170) 9:30-4pm Thurs/Fri at John Wesley United Methodist Church on Savannah Hwy in West Ashley.
Thursday June 20-Friday June 21: includes masterclasses for middle school and high school students, a jazz class, daily sessions on warm-up routines, Skype/Facetime talks (Moment with the Masters) with prominent trumpet artists around the country/world, opportunities to try out instruments and purchase trumpety stuff (Visit with the Vendors), trumpet ensemble rehearsals, and a faculty performance at the final recital which will also include the trumpet ensembles (open to family and friends).
Saturday June 22 - optional private lessons (additional charge)
Sunday June 23 - Participants in trumpet ensembles are encouraged to perform at the Sunday morning services to thank the church for letting us use their space.

Clarinet Day: August 24th
