Hello AR Band Families,
We have had very productive rehearsals since returning from the hurricane break. The students and staff have been working very hard to bring the show to life. As of now, we have learned 2/3 of the show in hopes of finishing within the next week or so. There are so many moving pieces and parts that go into bringing a marching band show together. Unfortunately, we have had to work around a very wet month. With that in mind, we have decided to not compete in the Gus Moody Tournament of Bands this coming weekend. In addition to lost practice time, some of our costumes, equipment, and props are being made by a company in South Florida. They were significantly affected by Hurricane Irma and can not guarantee we will receive our orders by this week.
It is very important to me to make sure our kids are in a position to succeed and have a positive first competition of the season. We feel that having a rehearsal on Saturday to finish learning the show will be to our benefit as we move into the competitive month of October. We do have 3 competitions in October and then our State Contest in November to look forward to.
We will perform a portion of the show in full uniform at halftime of the Summerville game Friday night. Call time for the students will be 5:45PM. Our rehearsal schedule this week will be Monday 4:30-6:30, Tuesday/Thursday 4:30-7:30, and Saturday 10:00AM-5:00PM. We will provide lunch for the students at 1:00PM.
Thank you for your continued support of the AR Band!
